OpenWeeknight is a live social space where adults can discover Featured Conversations and community rooms, follow along, and join when they feel ready. It is built around live conversation rather than an endless feed.

Many online platforms make it easy to find content, but not always easy to find people to talk with. OpenWeeknight gives ordinary evenings another option: a welcoming place to join a conversation, meet new people, and gradually recognise familiar names. Read more on our Why We Exist page.

OpenWeeknight is not centred on followers, popularity scores, or constant posting. It begins with the conversation itself. You can see what people are discussing, decide whether it interests you, and join without needing an audience or an existing group of friends.

OpenWeeknight is intended for adults aged 18 and over who enjoy meeting people, hearing different perspectives, and taking part in live conversations. You can be talkative, quiet, new to online communities, or simply curious about what people are discussing.

No. OpenWeeknight is designed for conversation, community, and friendship. Relationships may develop naturally between people, but the service is not presented as a dating or matchmaking platform.

Yes. Creating an account and using the core conversation features is free. Any optional paid feature introduced in the future would be clearly identified before you choose to use it.

Create an account, verify your email address, and complete your profile. You can then explore available conversations and rooms.

No. You may choose a display name and username you are comfortable using, as long as you do not impersonate or deliberately deceive other people.

Your profile can include a display name, photo, general location, age range, interests, and a conversation starter. Add only information you are comfortable sharing with other members.

No. You can read along first, understand the conversation, and contribute when you are ready. There is no requirement to introduce yourself or post immediately.

Yes. You can choose your preferred time zone and either a 12-hour or 24-hour time format in Settings.

A Featured Conversation is a question or situation selected by OpenWeeknight as one of the main discussions happening now. It may stay featured for several days so people have time to vote, share their view, return to the room, and see how the conversation develops.

Some Featured Conversations include a scheduled results reveal. Before the reveal, you may see when results are expected. Once the reveal is published, the conversation can show the result and an editorial takeaway while the room remains available for further discussion.

A live conversation is an active discussion happening inside a room. A room provides an ongoing place where people can continue talking and return over time.

Rooms are ongoing spaces built around an interest, local community, group, or shared purpose. A single room can hold many conversations over its lifetime.

Public rooms can be discovered and entered by eligible members. Discoverable private rooms may appear in Discover, but access can require approval or an invitation. Hidden private rooms do not appear in normal discovery and are available only to invited or approved members.

Yes. You can open an available public room and follow the conversation before deciding whether to participate.

Yes. You can belong to several rooms and move between them without leaving the others. Your conversation sidebar helps you return to the rooms and Direct Messages that matter to you.

Yes. Members can create public or private rooms, choose their purpose and category, and manage who can enter. Room owners are responsible for making sure their room follows the Community Standards.

Room Rules are short expectations set by a room owner to help members understand the purpose and tone of the room. They apply alongside OpenWeeknight's Community Standards.

Room owners and moderators can create polls for their community. Polls may include several choices and, depending on the poll settings, members may be able to change their vote before the poll closes.

Tonight's Pulse is a quick way to answer the current Featured Conversation polls from Home. After you vote, you can see the shared result and how your own answer compares with everyone who has voted.

No. Tonight's Pulse uses the active Featured Conversation polls already available on OpenWeeknight. It gives you a faster way to answer them without creating a separate set of questions or votes.

No. Your Pulse vote history and personal comparison patterns are private to you. OpenWeeknight may show shared poll totals and percentages, but it does not publish your personal Pulse history to other members.

After you answer the available Pulse questions, OpenWeeknight can show a private summary of how often your answers matched the majority and which answer was less common. This summary is visible only to you.

My Pulse is your private summary of Pulse activity over time. It can show how many questions you have answered, your majority-match rate, a less common answer, recent Pulse answers, and topic patterns when enough history is available.

Open your own profile and choose View all Pulse history. The history page lists your answers newest first. When the original conversation room is still available, you can use the question to return to that room.

After voting, you may be able to open Other Takes for an eligible poll and see why people who chose differently shared another view. Pulse helps you answer the question first; Other Takes helps the conversation continue.

Tonight's Pulse may be temporarily unavailable, hidden from Home, or there may not be an eligible active Featured Conversation poll at that time. Your existing private Pulse history is not deleted just because the Home entry is unavailable.

Other Takes is a poll feature that shows selected perspectives from members who chose a different answer from you. It is designed to help you discover views you might not otherwise see and give you an easy way to respond.

Other Takes becomes available after you vote in a poll that has the feature enabled. If a poll does not use Other Takes, the section will not appear.

The feature is intentionally focused on different perspectives. Instead of showing more of the same opinion, Other Takes highlights selected responses from people whose poll choice was different from yours.

When you share a take in a non-anonymous poll, your take may appear with the option you chose. Other Takes is not available on anonymous polls.

Agree and Disagree are lightweight reactions to a take. They help show how people are responding to that perspective without requiring a full message. You can change or clear your reaction.

Reply continues the discussion in the room. It does not start a private conversation. Your reply is connected to the original take so the conversation can continue naturally.

Yes. After voting, you can explain why you chose your answer. Your take also becomes part of the room conversation, and members who voted differently may see it in Other Takes.

Other Takes is optional. Room owners can enable it when creating a poll, and some OpenWeeknight Featured Conversations may use it by default. Anonymous polls cannot use Other Takes.

Talk Again is a private way to mark someone you enjoyed talking with in a room. It becomes available after meaningful interaction, rather than simply from viewing someone's profile.

No. A one-sided Talk Again choice is private. The other person is not notified and cannot see that you chose them unless they independently choose Talk Again for you too.

If both people independently choose Talk Again, OpenWeeknight records a mutual connection and notifies both members. You can then recognise that you both enjoyed the conversation and may want to talk again.

No. A mutual Talk Again connection does not automatically create a Direct Message. Direct Messages remain a separate feature and are still subject to each member's privacy settings.

No. Talk Again is designed for conversation, friendship, and community. It does not imply romantic interest and is not a swipe or dating-style matching system.

Talk Again appears after meaningful interaction in a room, such as replying to one another, reacting to each other's messages, or both taking part enough in the same conversation. This helps keep the feature connected to real conversation rather than profile browsing.

Talk Again is unavailable while either member has blocked the other. Pending one-sided Talk Again choices between the two members are removed when a block is created.

Yes, when the other member's privacy settings allow it. Direct Messages let two members continue a conversation privately.

No. OpenWeeknight does not currently show read receipts for Direct Messages.

Yes. Supported images can be shared in Direct Messages. Private images are protected by access controls and should still be treated with care.

Yes. Privacy Settings let you choose who may contact you, including everyone, people you have already chatted with, or nobody.

Blocking prevents further Direct Messages between you and that member while the block remains. You can unblock the person later through Privacy Settings.

Depending on your profile and privacy choices, other members may see your display name, username, profile photo, general location, age range, interests, conversation starter, activity status, and rooms you created.

No. They are protected by account and access controls, but they are not end-to-end encrypted. Avoid sharing passwords, financial details, identification numbers, or other highly sensitive information.

Yes. Use the message actions and select Reply. Your response will include a preview of the message you are replying to.

Yes. Message reactions let you respond quickly without sending a separate message.

Yes. Edited messages may display an Edited label. Deleting a message replaces it with a notice, although limited records may be retained when necessary for safety, moderation, disputes, or legal obligations.

Yes, in supported room conversations. Photos must follow the Community Standards and should not contain sensitive information you would not want stored online.

OpenWeeknight uses Community Standards, privacy controls, room access settings, blocking, reporting, moderation tools, and account enforcement. No online service can guarantee that every interaction will be positive, so members should also protect their personal information and use good judgement.

Use the available Report option on the relevant message, profile, room, invitation, or conversation. Provide accurate context so the issue can be reviewed properly.

OpenWeeknight records the report and may create a moderation case for authorised review. Reviewers may examine the reported item and limited surrounding context before deciding whether action is needed.

Depending on the seriousness and circumstances, OpenWeeknight may remove content or rooms, restrict features, issue a warning, suspend an account, or permanently remove an account.

Use caution. Do not share passwords, financial information, government identification numbers, or other highly sensitive details. Take extra care before moving a conversation outside OpenWeeknight or meeting someone in person. Visit our Safety Centre for more guidance.

Open Settings after signing in. From there, you can update your profile, password, notifications, privacy choices, time zone, and other available preferences.

Open the Security section in Settings. If you cannot sign in, use the password reset option on the login page.

Contact OpenWeeknight through Help & Feedback or the Contact page for assistance with an account deletion request. Information about deletion and retention is available in the Privacy Policy.
